Uttarayan
Uttarayan is known as Makar Sakranti in other parts of India.The name Uttarayan comes from joining two different Sanskrit words "Uttara" (North) and "ayana" (movement towards). Uttarayana (Makar Sankranti) is the day when the sun starts to travel towards north as a sign of coming summer. People from all age groups, come to the roof of their houses and apartments to fly kites in celebration of the festival.
It is the day when the sun starts to travel northwards marking the decline of winter. The days become longer, the skies clearer and the breeze cooler. A feeling of anticipation, joy and jubilation grips all who celebrate the occasion of thanksgiving and merry-making.

On 11th Jan, 2011 :-State Level Function and Award Ceremony at 8.30 am. onwards
